Bethalto East Reading Programs
Students may earn rewards from outside sponsored reading programs such as Pizza Hut's Book-It (pizza!), Six Flags Reading Club (Ticket!), Raging Rivers (Ticket!), and Dairy Queen (free meal).
Book-It begins in October.
More information will come home when it is time to start each program.
Accelerated Reader
*The Accelerated Reader program is a computer-based, teacher-guided reading program intended to supplement the classroom literacy program. The program was designed to engage students in an abundance of reading practice at individual and appropriate reading levels.
*Students select books that are on the AR list (classroom and library books are marked accordingly). Each book is assigned a point value based on the number of words it contains and its reading difficulty.
*After reading, the student goes to the computer and takes a multiple-choice comprehension test. The computer scores the test, awards the student points based on the results, and keeps a complete record.
*The Bethalto Public Library also has a list of Bethalto East AR Books.
*Please encourage your child to find books they enjoy and read as often as possible!
